Wendy developed a sharp pain in her right ribs on Sunday night, December 9th. After a long day of many tests including an angiogram, it was discovered that she had a pulmonary embolism (blood clot that had traveled to her lungs) and she was immediately admitted to the hospital. She and the baby were both monitored closely and it seems both are doing well. This complication means she will need to give herself injections of blood thinners twice daily for the remainder of the pregnancy and is now considered a high risk pregnancy. As this is the number one killer of pregnant women, we all feel very lucky to have such a fortunate outcome.
